Bayside Tropical: Interiors

Bayside Tropical Cottages of Captiva is a group of ground-level cottages right on the waterfront of Pine Island Sound. See also the main Bayside Tropical Cottages page for views of the grounds plus rental information.

Above is the view from Blue Lagoon (#8), the cottage closest to the water. (Note that the waterfront pool and its raised sun patio was not yet built when this photo was taken.) Each cottage has its own individual arrangement and unique character. Cottage #3 is Coral Reef because it has been decorated with white wicker furniture and painted soft coral pink with white trim. Cottage #2 is Sail Away, #4 is Pink Hibiscus, #5 is Sunshine Girl, #6 is Flower Song, and #8 is Blue Lagoon. All of the cottages are quite cute, with two beds (plus sleep sofa), a full bathroom, living room and surprisingly efficient kitchenette.

Each cottage has air conditioning, cable TV, and screened lanais. The furnishings are comfortable and the kitchens well equipped. Up to 3 persons can be accommodated in each Cottage. The bedroom areas are separated from the living room by a wall, but in some cases not a door. These cottages are very well kept inside and out, and you'll find them pretty and clean just as the grounds are neat and trim.

Comfort and convenience with great amenities make Bayside Tropical Cottages popular. Its excellent value allows visitors to enjoy Captiva for twice as long compared to the cost of some other (also nice) homes. Each cottage is customized and decorated individually. (Due to upgrades, furnishings may vary from those shown here.) All are ground level - a consideration for those who do not wish to trek up and down a lot of stairs during their vacation.

After a long day enjoying life to the fullest -- Captiva style -- you could just fall right into one of the comfortable beds. But we highly recommend visits to the fine and diverse restaurants in the Captiva Village Center. There are excellent eateries from casual to world-famous within two or three minutes (walking) of Bayside Tropical Cottages.

Bayside Tropical Cottages welcomes you to Captiva Island. These cute cottages are comfortably nestled among royal palms, whispering pines, and tropical flowers. The waterfront location is teeming with wildlife and natural beauty and offers magnificent views out over the bay. Cottage #8 is water front, the others are a few steps back, but all share the grounds and pier. Take a look at the interiors too.

With its location in the Village Center you can easily walk to everything you need, like world-class restaurants, unique shops, and fun activities. History of Bayside Tropical Cottages

First Light on the Bay

Bayside Tropical Cottages has an interesting history. The grounds were used as the set for a Hollywood movie about a Polynesian island, and hence the Hawaii-like nickname (Nani Li'i, pronounced "Nanny Lee-Ee"). This is a perfect setting for a tropical paradise movie. Some of the movie props, one resembling a carved stone idol, may still be found on the grounds.

Captiva is a perfect environment for growing coconuts. The young palms (pictured right) are producing coconuts that can be reached from the ground! In the homestead years of Captiva, several farmers raised coconuts. Now, they also provide shade for mid-day relaxation in the lawn chairs. And the flowering shrubs seem to bloom profusely all year round, sharing the grounds with banana and other fruit trees.

Water

Bayside Tropical Cottages is situated on a gentle point of land protruding into the Pine Island Sound, giving excellent views and quick access to the bay. Our dock is most convenient to the channel from the Intracoastal Waterway. A few docks south you'll find gas, bait and other supplies. And here's a cool feature: you can arrive for your stay by boat! We're located just off the Intracoastal Waterway. Please call and we'll help make advance arrangements for you.

Each morning seems to bring a spectacular sunrise over the waters of the Pine Island Sound. Here you can see the Bayside Tropical Cottages boat dock and the osprey nest.
