Captiva Village is the heart of the island. Visitors drop in on art galleries and boutiques, the library and chapel, and unique restaurants. Incredible homes (some available for vacation rental) are nestled amongst the tropical folliage, while wonderful banks of flowers bask in the fine, sunny weather. Captiva Drive connects the quiet, sandy lanes that run east-west, from the boat docks of the Pine Island Sound to the Gulf of Mexico beach. Pools and tennis courts are almost as plentiful as the rare shells for which Captiva and Sanibel are famous.
At the center of the Village area is Andy Rosse Lane, which features a quaint general store, the "visitors center" offices of American Realty of Captiva, and the famous Mucky Duck restaurant and pub on the beach front. Farther to the north are the Post Office and other stores and restaurants.
